The focus of this Bible game is to help students learn Bible Book abbreviations, and how to find and identify scriptures.
Bible Game: Bible Book Abbreviations & Finding/Identifying Scriptures
Scriptures on Your Back Review
Ages: 8-12
Needed: A list of the abbreviations for each Bible Book (kept in plain sight), a basket, slips of paper with the Bible verses on them, and student Bibles.
Object: Be the first to read the book written on your back
Play: Have children separate into pairs.
One student should stand facing the list of abbreviations, and the other student should stand immediately behind him.
The student in the back should pick one of approximately twenty scripture verses out of the basket. Do not read aloud what is written on the slip of paper.
For Example: “Rom 1:1.”
Using his index finger, the student standing behind should “write” “Rom 1:1″ on the back of the student in front. The student in front first guesses the verse, then should go to the Bible, find the verse, and read it aloud.
They have three chances to guess. If the verse matches what was pulled from the basket, the pair has answered the question correctly.
