Love is patient,

love is kind.

It does not envy,

it does not boast,

it is not proud.

It does not dishonor others,

it is not self-seeking,

it is not easily angered,

it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but

rejoices with the truth.

It always protects,

always trusts,

always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

~ 1 Corinthians 13

Valentines Day Craft: 1 Corinthians 13 Valentine Bookmarks

In this Valentines Day craft, we are creating touching bookmarks that highlight the Bible verse 1 Corinthians 13.  Using paint sample cards from your local home improvement store and soft vellum paper, children can learn this beautiful scripture while they create a wonderful gift for someone special, or one to keep for themselves as a constant reminder of the true meaning of Love!

Materials

  • Paint sample cards
  • Vellum paper
  • Printer (or pen for writing scripture on vellum paper)
  • Ribbon or Tassel
  • Brad for decoration
  • Hole Punch
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Print the Bible verse 1 Corinthians 13 onto the Vellum paper.  (The verse can be copied from above)
  2. Trim the Vellum paper of excess edges.
  3. Trim the paint sample card to be slightly bigger than the Vellum paper size.
  4. Lay the paint sample card and vellum paper together, and punch a hole through both at the top.
  5. Tie a ribbon or tassle through the hole.
  6. Embellish with a jeweled brad or other decorative element of your choice.

Discussion

Faith is believing in Jesus and knowing that He will do what’s best for us.  Hope is knowing that we will be with Jesus in Heaven.  And God is love! Love never ends.

Love thinks good things, and if you are thinking good things, you will do good things.  If you love someone or something, you never stop trying. Love is patient, willing to listen and takes the time to pay attention.  Slow down and see if there’s something you can do to help someone “¦ You show your love by how you act and treat others!

(I realize that you haven’t linked back to the party at our blog yet, but that is no doubt either oversight or in the cards)

Love the idea of making the verse into a bookmark, even more I love that you used paint sample to back it. Will defiantly be keeping this idea for later use.
