Some previous [tag]youth Bible study lessons[/tag] have touched upon patience and its importance in following God’s plans. The story of Jacob wrestling all night with the angels is a good story to show another another great [tag]Christian virtue[/tag] in action, that of persistence.
Sometimes God wants us to wait patiently for him, as Jacob waited the seven years to marry Rachel. And sometimes God wants us to be persistent and proceed courageously for things God wants for us. Those who persist in the right things get blessed!
Today, your younger students are going to learn how Jacob wrestled a blessing away from one of God’s angels. He had to show “persistence.” To start, we’re going to show some persistence, too, with a game.
Have contests to see who can do things the longest like: stand on one foot, holding the other foot in one hand without touching anything; hold their breath; go the farthest through the letters by saying the alphabet backwards.
Your younger [tag]Sunday school[/tag] students will enjoy these games and understand the concept of persistence!
