Why Attend Sunday School – Hold a Church Social
As a Sunday school teacher you may be faced with answering the question some parents pose–why attend Sunday school. I find that addressing this question before it is asked is the best plan. Here is how I get parents attention.
When Sunday school enrollment is near, hold an ice cream social (or some other food-centered social) where parents and children can come and experience a typical Sunday school session. As with all sessions, there should be a lesson, a way to tie it back to the Bible and the teachings of Jesus, a way to make it relevant to the students and the parents, and an activity to keep everyone involved.
This is a great way to prove to parents the organization, structure, and message of Sunday school and convince them that it is a worthwhile investment of their own and their children’s time.
