We memorize scriptures because it is one way to get to know God. We should spend time getting to know Him – seeking his will and understanding his power. Sometimes God’s voice comes to us very plainly. Other times it’s challenging to make out. Let’s practice hearing God’s Word in whispers and trying to get it right.
Whisper Down the Lane
Materials Needed:
Copy of the Answer Key
Object:
For the last student in lines of four to be able to repeat accurately the words of scripture which started with the first student.
Game Instructions:
Divide students into groups of four. If you have extra students, they can be added in (four is the optimal number, though give and six also work.) Have them sit in a straight line. Whisper clearly the first five words of the scripture verse to each student who is first in their group. Have that student whisper it to the next student, on down. The fourth or last student should recite the five words aloud. If that last student repeats it inaccurately, the process starts over again until he gets it.
If the fourth or last person is able to say the portion aloud accurately, this time whisper the first two lines – what they already have, plus another line. The fourth or last student should recite the five words aloud. If that last student repeats it inaccurately, the process starts over again until he gets it.
Repeat this until all words of the scripture verse have been said.
Answer Key:
Repeat only the first line into the first students’ ears. When they get it right, repeat the first and second line. When they get that, repeat the first, second, and third line.

on your own understanding; in all your ways
acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will
not slumber. Psalm 121:2-4

If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I
will come in to him and
eat with him, and he with me.
