A key way to engage the interest of 12-14 year olds is to make it relevant to current times. Try these discussion topics with the lesson where Jesus walks on water for your next teen Sunday school lessons.

Discussion:
Talk about some of the difficult things that the students face at school and at home. Talk about how these things can distract them from Jesus.

Bible Story:
Have the students take turns reading from Matthew 14: 25-31, which is the story of Jesus walking on water, until the passage has been read.

Discussion:
Ask the students why Peter began to sink. Then refer back to the difficult things that they face on a daily basis. Remind them that through their difficult times they need to keep their eyes on Jesus.

Activity:
Give each student a sheet of paper that has the following scrambled words. Using the Bible verses that they have just read, have them unscramble the words.
