One of the best Sunday school themes that Sunday school teachers teach is to get their students to value themselves. This lesson for your 9-11 year olds encourages them to think about and to value their own unique qualities.
Bible Story:
Have the students take turns reading the following Bible passages:
1st Corinthians 15:3
1st Thessalonians 5:10
1st Peter 3: 15
Have them read until they have read all of the passages. Discuss what they have read so that you can make sure that they have understood the verses.
Discussion:
Ask the students why Jesus died on the cross. Emphasize that we are all special to Jesus. Explain that if there were only a few people who were special to Him, he would not have died on that cross for us.
Activity:
Have the students write a letter to themselves. In the letter have them write why Jesus died on the cross. Then have them write at least five attributes that make them special and unique.
