Sunday School Lessons – What the Trinity Means to Us

For your Sunday school lessons on the Trinity, it is important to discuss what the Trinity means to each of us.  Here are a few ways to lead this discussion.

How does the Trinity affect our lives today?  We no longer have God the Father speaking from heaven or calling one prophet to lead His people.  Nor do we have Jesus walking the earth beside us, instructing us in per-son as to how to live our lives.

Instead, we have the Holy Spirit, who lives in each of us and serves as our guide as we try to live a Christian life.  We can appreciate the importance of the Trinity because we have experienced each in our lives.  God the Father is He who gives life, forgives sins, and serves as our father-figure.  Jesus is He who brought salvation, our friend and Redeemer, who offers us a way to heaven.  The Holy Spirit is He who guides us daily, offers us protection, and walks beside us through life.

Christians are lucky enough to experience the presence of all three of these manifestations in our lives, but we often put an emphasis on one person or the other.  We must remember that these three parts make up the whole of divinity and that they are all responsible for the blessings, salvation, and rules that govern our lives.  Each deserves respect, reverence, and worship, because each brings a new aspect of God to our lives.
