Now that we’ve gotten rid of that nasty bat, we’re going to replace him with something good. Giving bad memories to God to handle for us brings us peace. These [tag]Sunday school games[/tag] are great for your younger students.
Often in Bible stories when there was peace, or when God wanted to show he was near, people would see a dove. (Teacher words in bold.)
Let’s make Doves of Peace to replace those bats!
Have children cut out the shape of a dove. Paste it on a popsicle stick. They can flap it back and forth. On the popsicle sticks, they can write: I HAVE PEACE. They can decorate the dove’s wings with glitter or other craft accessories.
Now that we’ve made our peace doves, let’s pretend we are doves! We’ll have a relay race and spread our wings!
Create a course with 4 chairs (two for each team), the tabl,e and a couple of books (one for each team) laid on the floor. Students have to run around the first chair, run backwards around the second chair, crawl under the table, and spin a circle while jumping on one foot on top of the paperback. They can then slap the wall and run back to their team. The whole time they are running, they should remember to flap their wings like a dove. The next person repeats.
While we have peace, that doesn’t always mean life will be easy. Life is like this relay course. We still can feel confused and like there’s an awfully lot to do and think about. But Jesus brings the peace that passes understanding when we cast our cares on him!
