This is a time of year that we all can use ideas for kids Sunday school crafts for Christmas. This will work with any Christmas story, and the hearts illustrate with the idea of how Jesus loved us enough to come to earth and be born in a manger.

Sunday School Crafts Series: Love-of-Jesus Hearts

Needed:
Two large candy canes for each child
Scotch tape
Sprig of two Holly leaves & berries for each child (you can make these out of construction paper if you have no real holly available, or you can cut old Christmas arrangements and use sprigs of that)
Ribbon, thin, red or green, cut in 8-inch pieces
Paper clips, one for each child.

Before Class:
If you are using real holly, make sure it isn’t too pointy and won’t stick students.  Cut off points.

Instructions:
1. Have students face the two candy canes together (leave in their clear wrappings!)  If the upper points touch on the two candy canes and the lower two points touch, it will make the shape of a heart
2. Scotch tape the hearts together by winding clear tape around the top points and the bottom points
3. Place the sprig of holly on top of the two top points.  Secure in place with the ribbon, tying a knot in the back.  The rest of the ribbon can be wrapped around once to the front and tied in a bow.
4. By bending one end of a paper clip up, you can make a homemade tree hook.  Slip the bottom of the paperclip around the back of the ribbon.  It can be hung on the tree by the upper part, which will now look like a hook.
