Jesus, in his teachings, makes it very clear that God loves us as a father loves his child. He is always there for us and his love is unconditional. God is love and he wants us to love each other. Let’s try to connect with God’s love in this Bible games series – using marbles!
Bible Games Series: “Marble Claim Game“
MATERIALS NEEDED:
1 Bag of marbles. 2 copies of a scripture verse and 2 copies of a quotable quote that is not a scripture. All should be cut out, so the entire verse can be placed on the floor under a marble. Make sure that the quote under the marble is not identified, and the location of the scripture is not identified.
BIBLE GAMES PREPARATION:
Set up two game stations, side by side, on the floor for two teams. Place 1 scripture verse, and 1 quotable quote at each station and put a marble on top of each slip of paper. The start-line, should be far enough from the marbles that it will not be too easy to hit them.
BIBLE GAMES OBJECT:
Team members take turns trying to knock the marbles away from the scripture verse and the quote. First team to decide which paper contains the scripture correctly wins.
BIBLE GAMES INSTRUCTIONS:
Each player on each team gets a chance to hit the marble with their shooter marble. When they succeed in getting the marble off the paper, they may claim it. When both marbles have been removed they must decide what Bible verse goes with the scripture they claimed. The team that separates the scripture from the quotes first, wins.
When the game ends, read the scripture. Have the students repeat it four or five times until words start to flow together. Most important: After reciting the verse, say the name of the scripture verse, until that is as familiar as the words themselves.
Answer Key:
Six “rounds” of answers are supplied so the game can be used more than once. You can do two on a Sunday or use it several times during the year.
