This free Sunday school lesson is based on the story where Jesus walks on water. Use this passage and the drama activity to teach your 6-8 year olds the lesson of facing difficulties by keeping their eyes on Jesus.
Bible Story:
Tell the story of Jesus walking on the water (Matthew 14: 25-31). Either tell this story using a children’s bible or just tell it in a way that this age group can understand.
Drama:
Have the children get into pairs and act this story out. Have each child play both roles, Peter and Jesus.
Discussion:
Talk to the children about why Peter began to sink. Emphasize to them that if they keep their eyes on Jesus, He will keep them safe.
Activity:
Let the children draw a picture of this story on a piece of paper. Then help them write “Keep your eyes on Jesus” on their paper.
