To continue our discussion on Christianity and salvation, I refer to a verse from Corinthians. We as Christians believe that Jesus is the Savior King and that He will return to earth to establish a new order that will assure us of a life after death.
1 Corin-thians 15:12-14, 20-22, 51-52
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed…For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
Paul wrote that because Christ rose from the dead, we also have that opportunity. Without He first conquering death, we would have no possibility for life after death. However, He chose to put us before Himself and die for our salvation. With this argument, Paul makes it virtually impossible to believe in anything other than life after death, because if you do not believe that it is possible, you cannot believe in Christ’s resurrection, and therefore, cannot truly be a Christian.
To make sure there is no confusion, Paul tells us that “Christ has indeed been raised from the dead,” which makes sense because our fall from grace came through a man. To complete the circle and readmit humanity to eternal life, Christ had to conquer death.
