Christian Bible Studies – Jesus as Divine & Human
For Christian Bible studies, the majority of the Christian sects believe that not only is Jesus fully divine like the Father and the Spirit but also that He is fully human. There are numerous references in the Hebrew Scriptures, the Old Testament, to the humanity of the savior that was coming.
A question to consider with your Sunday school class is how can Jesus be both fully divine and fully human? How can those two things exist inside one person?
Passages such as Deuteronomy 18:15-19 and Isaiah 9:6 are good examples of this reference to humanity. When Jesus arrived on earth, He was like his fellow men in everything except sin. According to Philippians 2:6-11, Jesus was “in very nature God” but “made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.”
This shows us that Jesus was both fully divine and fully human because He chose to come down from heaven to assume the form of a man.
