Adult Sunday School – The Souls of the Unsaved

What happens to the souls of the unsaved is a significant topic to discuss with your adult Sunday school class.  The same distressing question is always raised when someone we love dies, especially when we know that the person did not know Jesus.

If this happens, what happens to their soul?  Does it die?  The Bible tells us that everyone’s souls will rise again, because only God can kill them by sending them to hell.

At the last judgment, Jesus will call everyone forward one by one to be judged according to their deeds.  The souls of those who love Jesus and have lived according to His word will join Him in eternal happiness, or heaven.  Those who did not follow Him during life will face another destiny.

Only Jesus knows what was in the souls of each of them during life, but we can say with near certainty that those who did not live as we do will not join us in heaven.  At that time, the unworthy will suffer the deaths of their souls as they spend eternity separated from God in hell.
