The soul is often a topic for adult Sunday school lesson Plans.  We see in reading the passage below that the soul can feel deep emotion, such as anguish.  Feeling emotion in the soul is often seen as even more intense than feeling it in the heart.

Psalm 6:3
My soul is in anguish.  How long, O Lord, how long?

The soul seems closer to God and more essential to the body, so any emotion found there is deeper, more real, and harder to deal with than emotion in the heart.

This passage gives the impression of extreme distress and complete longing for reprieve.  The psalmist begs God for some respite from the anguish that torments them and asks Him how long He will allow His ser-vant to feel this way when it is so unbearable.

When we also feel emotion this strong, it is important to realize that God will never leave us or give us a load that is too heavy to carry.  He will always be there beside us, even if He will not deliver us from the situation.

Our souls are strong, they are meant for communion with God, and they will help us through any situation.
