Bible games are designed to make learning scriptures fun and easy for your Sunday school or Bible study students. These Bible memory games will bring lifelong knowledge of Jesus Christ into the hearts of your pupils.
Memory Bible Games: “Scripture Jump Rope”
Jesus came so that any person who believes in Him could have a promise: That person (you!) can be with Him in Heaven someday. And while you’re alive on earth, He can be your best friend and lead you and guide you into the right things to do. That great news gives us lots to JUMP about, so let’s do some jumping!
MATERIALS NEEDED:
1 jump rope, answer key
LEARNING STYLE:
Audible
PREPARATION:
Practice jumping rope (slow time, which means two jumps with each turn of the rope) while saying the scriptures yourself a few times, using the sing-songy pattern that is demonstrated below and provided for each verse. Putting verses either to songs or poetic patterns is a great way to keep a scripture in a child’s mind.
OBJECT:
First person to jump while reciting the whole scripture, without missing a jump or a word, wins.
GAME INSTRUCTIONS:
Read the scripture and bounce yourself to demonstrate. Try to say the scripture in a sing-songy way, using the accented words to go with each jump, such as the following:
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Have the students watch you jump and pronounce the scripture. (If you’re really uncoordinated that’s okay – have a child jump while you recite; then get the child to recite while jump.)
They should repeat each four or five times until words start to flow together.
Most important: They should know what verse it is at the end of this demonstration! Make sure to keep the verse as part of the rhythm-bouncing.
Answer Key:
Six “rounds” of answers are supplied so you can use the game more than once. You can do two on a Sunday (keep the cut words in different baggies!) or use it several times during the year. Note: The scriptures increase with difficulty (number of words) each round! In this case, sometimes the scripture verse has been spelled out to show where the emphasis goes.
ROUND #1:
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
ROUND #2:
For all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13
ROUND #3:
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1, verse 12
ROUND #4
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
ROUND #5
If anyone is in Christ, then he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. Second Corinthians 5:17
ROUND #6
Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. / / No one comes to the Father except through me. John fourteen, verse six
