Being a religious education teacher, there is a continuous need to come up with a Bible school craft. Try this project that you can do anytime, anywhere, with just a few common supplies.  Although it has a Bible verse specially fitted to it, you can use this one as the basis of your class session or use a verse you are particularly fond of.

“Mask-querade” Bible School Craft

Bible passage: Jeremiah 23:24:

“Can any hide himself in secret places that I may not see him? Saith the Lord. Do not I fill the heavens and the Earth?”

Craft: Masks decorated to cover up the identity of your students

Materials: Paper plates, crayons/markers, glue/tape, feathers, pipe cleaners, pencils

1.Give each Sunday school student ½ paper plate.
2.With a pencil, show them how to draw a mask that they can cut out.  The design can be anything from a straight line on 1 edge and 2 half circles on the other  to jagged lines on both edges.  Use your imagination and encourage your students to do the same.
3.Students should cut out their masks according to the design they have drawn on the paper plates.
4.Have students draw 2 eye holes that they can cut out and look through when the mask is put up to their faces.
5.Punch a hole in the middle of each eye and cut it out from the inside out.
6.Color in the masks however the students wish.
7.Using glue or tape, students should attach feathers, pipe cleaners, glitter, or any other decoration you have available.
8.Once the masks are dry, have students turn them over so that they are looking at the back.
9.Take 2 pipe cleaners and attach them to either side of the mask with glue, so that when students hold onto the pipe cleaners, the mask will stand straight and cover their eyes.
10.Have your students “wear” their masks around after the glue is dry to display their creativity.
