activity about dressing appropriatelyIf you missed the first part of this Bible activity, you can check it out over here.

In Part 1 of this lesson, we led tween ministry students through an activity that demonstrated that everything a young person does affects other young people–we do not live in a vacuum.

Part 2 will continue with the activity by talking about how girls can be happy with their appearance without upsetting boys and how boys should treat girls.

Bible Activity Discussion

Say out loud, “Let’s talk about how girls can dress to feel great without upsetting the boys.”

1. Why didn’t I say, “Talk about how the boys can dress without upsetting the girls?”

They may have learned this in school health class already, but if not prompt them: When it comes to girls, boys tend to think with their eyes. When it comes to boys, girls tend to think with their emotions. This is a proven psychological fact.

2. Having lustful thoughts is something that kids begin to have and to fight when they are anywhere from 10 to 14. What is a lustful thought?

LOOKUP: Matthew 5:28

3. Because boys and girls arrive at lustful thoughts differently, what might girls forget to think of when they’re gefng dressed?

How they’re affecting boys.

4. Many girls who are particularly “chesty” will tell you that they hate it, that they wish they were built so that they could hide instead of stand out. Why do you think that is?

We all need to be careful. We don’t want to “push” a girl into running home and crying, swearing never to wear a certain outfit again because she thinks she has too much of something or not enough. You would not believe, boys, how often this happens.

Girls, if your clothing “pushes” a boy into lustful thoughts about you, you’re not doing him any favors. You’re not doing yourself any favors.

5. Why is wrong for us, as Christian girls, to say, “Well, his reaction is his problem”?

LOOKUP: Romans 15:5

6. Does being more modest mean that God is telling us to run home, throw out our clothes, force our parents to buy all new in a bad economy, especially if they’re not following God’s way themselves?

LOOKUP: 1 SAMUEL 15:22

7. Samuel said, “To obey is better than to make a sacrifice.” What is this saying about making sacrifices that God didn’t ask you to make?

8. Is God asking us to dress like Pilgrims or something?

9. Why is talking to and listening to God so important when we’re getting dressed for school, girls?

Bible Activity Discussion Conclusion

The principles are these:

Girls, you don’t have to change wardrobes. You may need to pass some things down that are too tight or too short and replace them with something that isn’t going to cause many boys to stumble.

A Little Looser + A Little Longer = Lots More Loving!

Boys, be careful with your eyes. Not only can you hurt girls’ feelings, but you’re hurting yourself when you let your eyes drag you away from Christ.

A Little Less Looking = A Lot More Loving!

Thanks for the good advice but I was trying to say what would Jesus Christ do in front of a ltd bus rider in Oregon?
