This Sunday school for kids lesson is an excellent one to teach your 2-5 year olds that Jesus was a teacher also and that he loves all children of the world.  Your class will have fun learning using the song, the activity and discussions about the similarities and differences of children worldwide.Sunday School for Kids

Bible Story:
Tell any story from the bible that shows Jesus as a teacher.  This should be at a level a level of understanding appropriate to the age of the children in your class.

Discuss:
Where do we learn things?  Who teaches us?   What do we learn?

Activity:

Using a theme of  we are all God’s children, teach the children something about the world in which we live.

For example, you could have a large world map, and/or a globe of the world to show the children.  Point out where they live.  Have pictures of children from other countries – use Africa as your main reference.  Talk about how those children do similar things to the children in your class, but also do things differently.  Highlight the similarities, for example they have parents and homes, they laugh, they wash, they learn, they play.  Then highlight the differences, for example the kind of house they live in, the fact that they dress differently, they probably don’t have television (name popular TV characters for this age group), that they probably don’t have running water and must collect water from a well, and that their school could be outdoors.  End your teaching activity with the fact that we are all God’s children, even though we may be different.

Your class should leave with a greater knowledge and understanding that there are other children in the world who live a similar and yet different life but that God loves all of us.

Song:   (To the tune of “It’s a small world after all”)

There’s a world out there that God has made
There’s a world out there that’s far away
There’s a world out there
Where children learn
There’s a world out there

There’s a world out there that God has made
There’s a world out there that’s far away
There’s a world out there
Where children play
There’s a world out there

There’s a world out there that God has made
There’s a world out there that’s far away
There’s a world out there
Where teachers teach
There’s a world out there

There’s a world out there that God has made
There’s a world out there that’s far away
There’s a world out there
With children just like me
There’s a world out there

Activity 2:
Give each child an outline of a map of the world, and get them to color it with some crayons which you also supply.
