Presidents Day Snack: Patriotic Yogurt and Berry Sundaes

This healthy and patriotic snack is great for any of the patriotic holidays. On Presidents Day, use it to show layers of respect for elders, authorities and government officials.

 Material

– Clear plastic cups
– Vanilla yogurt
– Strawberries
– Blueberries (berries can be frozen and thawed)
– Sliced almonds or granola
– Spoon

Introduction

We the People are a little bit like the strawberries in this parfait. We are great on our own, but we are better when we have a little “leadership” on top of us (which are like the blueberries). We’re also better when we’re surrounded by the Holy Spirit, which is like the yogurt, covering us all and protecting us from beneath.

The Holy Spirit is what enables us to be respectful. It will help us to remember that George Washington and Abe Lincoln, our most famous Presidents, were encompassed by many others, who have also lived in the White House and have their portraits in the same Presidential galleries. They are all worthy of respectful talk and our prayers.

Instructions

1. Use spoon to alternate layers of yogurt in glass.

2. Start at the bottom with yogurt, then strawberries and blueberries, then yogurt. Lay in a thin layer of nuts or granola between each item.

3. Top with granola or nuts.
