Food For Thought: Oreo Cookie Owl Cupcakes

One thing we can be thankful for is God’s wisdom, which in turn makes us wise when we follow him. Serving these cute wise owls will help us remember to be thankful, and it gives kids an added lesson in wisdom as well!

Materials:

  • Paper Plate
  • Chocolate cup cake (homemade or store bought)
  • Oreo cookies
  • Chocolate M & Ms
  • Orange M & M or jelly bean

Instructions:

Place cupcake on plate. If the cupcakes is store-bought, remove some of the icing and spread the top pretty smooth.

Open an Oreo cookie and place on the cupcake. They will be the eyes of the owl.

Use chocolate M & Ms for pupils of the eyes and an orange M & M/jelly bean for nose

Lesson:

Proverbs 2:2-6 goes like this:

Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding;  For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding;  If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures;  Then you will discern the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God.  For the Lord gives wisdom;  From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. ~ Proverbs 2:2-6

The greatest blessings we have on planet earth are these: Salvation and God’s Wisdom. Salvation means that we can tap into God’s wisdom any time that we pray. The God who created the depths of the oceans and the farthest star hears every word we pray and is happy to answer us. He never says a question is stupid or that he doesn’t have enough time. This can make us wise as owls and sweet as sugar…like our snack. Let’s be most thankful for salvation and God’s wisdom this holiday.
